Raw TV Expands Into US With New York Office

Award-winning indie Raw TV has announced its expansion into the US with the opening of a New York office.
This strategic move for Raw TV will drive the company's push into the US market as well as fuelling development of programming with cross-territory appeal.
The New York office is already in production, with RDF USA, on Fugitive Chronicles, a nine-part series for the A&E network, which will chronicle some of the most compelling manhunts over the last 20 years. Raw TV has also been commissioned to produce two further pilots for other US networks, building on the company's growing reputation for high-octane factual programmes.
Dimitri Doganis, Managing Director of Raw TV, said: "We want to bring our passion for stylish story telling to the American market; we have had a lot of interest in our ideas from US broadcasters and Fugitive Chronicles has provided the impetus to have more of a permanent presence in New York. We're extremely excited about the possibilities for both US-only and cross-territory projects - and so far we've been fortunate in the responses our ideas and treatments have received.
"Our recent Digital Emmy win (for Battlefront) demonstrates Raw's position at the forefront of creative content and builds on our established programme credentials. Beyond Fugitive Chronicles we've been green-lit on two further projects for US cable networks and are delighted to be able to work more closely with US broadcasters."
Raw's Creative Director Bart Layton is heading up operations in New York and is Executive Producing Fugitive Chronicles. Layton is the creative force behind the new projects and said of them: "Our intention is to continue producing totally distinctive work which looks and feels much more like cinema than traditional TV - this series will look unlike anything else that's been done in this price range."
Recently-appointed series producer Mary-Jane Robinson will work with Layton to further develop its feature documentary, long-running series and scripted drama slate.
Based in New York since 2003, Robinson specialises in producing criminological and socio-political films and feature documentaries. In 2005, she teamed up with legendary director Marc Levin (Slam/Gladiator Days/Gang Wars) to make the feature documentary film Mr Untouchable for Magnolia Pictures.
Robinson has also been very involved in the new wave of political documentaries coming out of the US. She was the principle correspondent on Why We Fight, which won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival and the 2007 66th Annual Peabody Award. Recently, she produced two feature length films, Searching for Elizabeth (Channel 4) and Bin Laden (BBC1).
