Sony At Cannes Film Festival

Sony Professional is at this year's Cannes Film Festival to showcase its new camcorder, the PDW-F800, for the first time in Europe.
The PDW-F800 XDCAM HD422 Camcorder builds on the successful PDW-700, adding in new capabilities and features with the aim of creating the most fully featured tapeless camcorder on the market.
New features include:

• Film-style 24P progressive recording
• Quick and Slow (over-crank and under-crank)
• Standard Definition Recording
• User Gamma editing and Dual Optical Filters are designed to appeal to a broad spectrum of high-end users, from documentary-makers right up to cinema and TV drama producers

The development of the PDW-800, which will sell alongside the PDW-700, was driven by extensive feedback from programme-makers in the field. Sony Professional established what new features were most commonly asked for by customers before feeding back to product development teams in Japan which focused on making the camcorders even better.
