Latens Demonstrates Pay-TV Cable Delivery Systems At ANGA 2009

As the cable industry gears up to maximise the benefits of digital television, Latens, a leading provider of software Conditional Access System (CAS) and Middleware for the global Pay TV industry, is showcasing the most secure, future-proof and cost-effective systems on the market at the ANGA show in Cologne from May 26-28 (Stand: B44).
Offering the only DVB-compliant software security for one way and hybrid cable networks, Latens has designed its software CAS specifically to meet the unique demands of Cable Pay TV services.
This allows operators to deliver today's most popular and advanced subscriber services, while taking full advantage of the cost benefits of software CAS over legacy smart cards.
As well as offering existing cable operators a secure migration path to next generation Pay TV services, the system allows legacy services and content protection technologies to be supported for an extended period - so smoothing the transition to a more powerful network and a greatly enhanced subscriber experience.
In a convincing display of industry leadership, Latens will demonstrate how its future-proof systems enable cable operators to seamlessly evolve their service offering as they see fit, giving them the competitive edge in Europe's increasingly crowded media landscape.
Among these is Latens ECO, a high performance and highly scalable Pay TV delivery platform that combines software CAS and middleware in a single application. This gives cable operators the opportunity to offer customers a multitude of next-generation entertainment services, including Web TV, OTT ('over the top' broadband) TV and Time Shift TV.
Furthermore, ECO is fully compliant with the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA), the standard adopted by consumer electronics manufactures to let viewers share content across a home network without embarking on a complicated configuration process.
Consequently, cable operators can offer subscribers an enhanced viewing experience across a whole home network of multiple set-top boxes, PCs or personal media players - safe in the knowledge that it is secured by Latens' award-winning CAS.
Latens CAS and ECO maximises the potential of DOCSIS 3, thereby enabling cable operators to compete with IPTV operators and to offer a variety of interactive TV (TV) services, which boosts subscriber numbers and reduces chum.
Latens will also demonstrate its unique range of Hybrid Network Cable/IP software CAS systems, which have already been deployed extensively across Europe.
