Carol Owens Appointed Ascent Media Director

Ascent Media has announced the appointment of Carol Owens, who joins the Ascent EMEA Business Development team as Director of Strategic Engagements.
In her new role, Carol will be developing strategic accounts, partnerships and media service innovation for Ascent Media. She has spent her entire career in the media industry, starting out as a documentary film editor at the BBC before moving into resource management and technology innovation consulting.
She is probably best known for her pioneering work on metadata and media asset management, launching the BBC's data model SMEF and leading the European Broadcasting Union's P/Meta project. She maintains a keen interest in the subject, chairing conferences and publishing articles.
Carol joins Ascent from Serco Solutions where she was Head of Media Strategy, having moved from the BBC to Siemens in 2004. At Siemens she managed teams in the Global Media Consulting practice before moving into sector Strategy and Planning. She is committed to practical strategy and visions that work.
Carol has been recognised in the broadcast industry with a UK Royal Television Society innovation Award in 2000 and an RTS Fellowship in 2001.
