Sounding Out! The ABTT Theatre Show Gets Amplified

Audio will have a strong presence at this year's ABTT Theatre Show, with first-time exhibitors L Acoustics, the SSE Group and distributor Red Square Audio, Cuk-Audio, Loh Humm Audio, Midas alongside Sound Technology, d&b audiotechnik, Cadac, Allen & Heath and Polar Audio, Duran Audio and Martin Audio among those exhibitors already confirmed.
The exhibition, which takes place at the Royal Horticultural Halls in Westminster, London from June 10 to 11, sold out at the end of April, with pre-registrations 20 per cent up on the same time last year.
Like other sectors of the A/V market, theatre has been hit by the recession, but with major installations still going out to tender, particularly for schools and colleges, the indicators are still encouraging.
In recent years, manufacturers and distributors have cut back on exhibitions, but this year's ABTT Theatre Show has bucked the trend. L Acoustics is notable among the newcomers, while Yamaha Audio is exhibiting for the first time in its own right.
With Ofcom due to publish its latest statement on the Digital Dividend during the summer wireless technology will be a major focus at the show. Manufacturers are concentrating on equipment that can cope with new and reduced spectrum bands, among them beyerdynamic with its Opus ranges, Zaxcom's QRX100 4-channel digital receiver and TRX900 digital wireless transmitter and the new AKG DMS 700 digital wireless transmitter and the new AKG DMS 700 digital wireless microphone system on display on the Sound Technology stand.
The ABTT Theatre Show Director, Roger Fox, commented: "We're very pleased to see how the audio contingent of the show has grown over the years. It highlights the value that audio can add to modern productions, enhancing the experience through special sound effects and immersive sound reinforcement. The companies exhibiting at this year's Show exemplify this and highlights the impact of the digital domain and its positive effects on theatre productions."
The ABTT Theatre Show takes place at London's Royal Horticultural Halls, between June 10 - 11, 2009.
