IDC Wins Major Radio Contract From Sud-West-Rundfunk

A global leader in providing advanced solutions for the distribution of broadband mulitmedia content via satellite, International Datacasting, has announced that it's wholly owned subsidiary and European base of operations PROFline B.V. has been awarded a contract to provide a next generation satellite distribution network to German public broadcaster Sud-West-Rundfunk (SWR).
Based in Stuttgart, SWR is the second largest broadcasting corporation of the ARD (Consortium of public-law broadcasting institutions of Germany). With two TV stations and several radio stations, SWR covers the southwest region of Germany, an area of 55,600 square kilometres and reaches an estimated 14.7 million residents.
Under the contract, PROFline will provide a complete end-to-end system including their latest generation SFD-IP Rebroadcast receivers and DMM-IP, Digital Stereo Encoders to SWR. The PROFline SFD-IP and DMM-IP are state-of-the-art broadcast products providing uncompromised reception and rebroadcasting encoding in professional FM transmitter sites.
The FM technology provided by PROFline allows SWR to maintain and improve their high quality FM radio network. Both products provide technology in accordance with German standardisation and have been adapted to the broadcasters' specific needs. The FM SFD-IP Rebroadcast receivers and DMM-IP, Digital Stereo Encoders will be deployed across the entire SWR radio network and will be the backbone of analogue FM transmission for the network.
Ron Clifton, IDC President and Chief Executive Officer, said: "We are very pleased with this new order from SWR. They have chosen the PROFline product because of our long term relationship, continued commitment to product development and our outstanding technical support. This is a very important win for our European team as we continue to demonstrate our leadership in this market."
Berry Eskes, PROFline's Director of Marketing and Sales, said: "I am pleased and very proud to have won this contract. SWR is known for their demanding standards for high quality audio performance and equipment reliability."
The announcement was made during NAB 2009, the broadcast community's largest annual gathering that brings together content providers and distributors under one roof for a week long exhibition and conference.
