Charity DVD Award Success For 20/20

One of Scotland's most diverse communications companies has earned a prestigious industry award for its powerful portrayal of a key Scottish charity.
A range of promotional DVDs for Children's Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS), which feature Hollywood star Ewan McGregor, has earned 20/20 Productions the Communication in Business (CiB) Scotland Award for Best DVD for the second year running.
Seven DVDs were designed to communicate the charity's message to a variety of audiences, including potential sponsors, medical professional and families.
Initial assessment has revealed the DVDs are already having a powerful effect, with donations shown to be greater at charity events where the film is shown.
The award is of special significance to Edinburgh based 20/20 Productions, which selected CHAS as its 'Charity of the Year' in 2008.
A highlight of the company's charity activity saw Managing Director, Alastair Scott, traverse the continent by motorbike, in a fundraising adventure similar to that of Ewan McGregor's famous travelogues 'Long Way Down' and 'Long Way Round'.
Alastair and a friend, who dubbed their journey 'Wrong Way Round', hit the road in 15 European Countries within one week.
He described the CHAS project as a fantastic achievement for the creative team at 20/20 Productions, which is approaching its landmark 20th year.
The award win also highlights the growing importance of effective communication in the charity sector, which faces fierce competition for essential funds in the current economic climate.
Alastair said: "This project presented a new challenge to the team. CHAS relies on public support and communicating the message about its incredible work is at the heart of this. We were determined to design a range of DVDs that would reap results for the charity in the most cost effective way possible.
"Our objective was to produce DVDs that educate the audience about CHAS and capture the magnitude of the issues families face, in a way that is sensitive but not sensationalist.
"This project has seen our team experience an emotional rollercoaster, describing the children in the DVDs as both inspiring and humbling. It is highly rewarding for us as a company to contribute in some way to this charity's future.
"We were delighted to support CHAS as our Charity of the Year and hope this award win will give the charity further much needed recognition."
20/20 Productions has developed a reputation for passion, creativity and technical excellence in a range of communications services.
Alastair added: "Outstanding communication, whatever medium is used, must always come from fresh ideas and a passion for the work.
"20/20 benefits from a group of highly skilled, qualified staff, who are, moreover, hard working and dedicated to excellence. There is a real energy throughout the team.
"They support one another and encourage that creative vibe. I know this is at the heart of every project's success."
20/20 Productions employs a core team of 15 at its Newington premises, Edinburgh. The company also has a US presence in San Francisco.
