Jobs In Jeopardy At ITV

Hundreds of jobs are in jeopardy and ITV Studios are set to be cutback as the broadcaster announces full-year results in March.
ITV is believed to be struggling to service its £2.6bn pension fund, a situation being exacerbated by a continuing slump in recession-hit advertising sales.
It is anticipated that ITV's own in-house production arm will be dramatically affected by the as many as 1,100 redundancies. Instead, executives hope to work more closely with the independent sector.
While as yet unconfirmed officially, ITV Global Content Managing Director Lee Bartlett told a Broadcasting Press Guild event in late February: "ITV needs to think in a completely different way than it did just eight months ago.
"That means making tough decisions, hard calls and operating this business in a different way."
Any cuts at ITV will be in addition to measures already revealed such as withdrawing its annual donation to the National Film and Television School.
However, there was better news for the company on screen elsewhere.
ITV1's annual coverage of The Brit Awards in February grabbed the attention of 5.2m viewers (21.7% share) from 8pm.
While this was down by nearly a million from last year, the two hour show still outperformed everyone else and managed to outperform the channel's slot average for last year of 4.8m (20.8%).
