Sachtler Launch The FSB 4

At the InterBEE in Japan, Sachtler, a Vitec Group brand, presented a new fluid head: the FSB 4.
With a payload ranging from 0-8.8 lb (0-4kg), the FSB 4 is the ideal device for users of (H)DV cameras, while offering functional Sachtler features such as aluminum housing, three-step damping and five-step counterbalance.
In addition, the FSB 4 incorporates the Sachtler proven Speedbalance technology, enabling fast and precise balancing.
With the FSB 4 fluid head, Sachtler expands the FSB range. Joining the company's FSB 2 and FSB 6, the FSB 4 performs especially well with small, lightweight cameras equipped with professional accessories. Robert Zierer, Product Manager at Sachtler, said: "Its payload of up to 8.8 lb (4kg) provides camera support for almost every (H)DV camera. What's more, the new head perfectly meets our clients' expectations regarding robustness, reliability and durability."
The FSB 4 has an integrated flat base fitting, and interfaces with tripods with 75mm bowls. The head provides three horizontal and three vertical steps of damping, as well as a reliable five-step counterbalance, to guarantee optimum handling.
When the FSB 4 is paired with Sachtler's multifunctional tripod system SOOM, which can be used for height ranges from 8" to 8' (20 cm to 250 cm), the system provides a strong team for each and every take. Accessories that provide additional functionality to the FSB 4 head are the FSB CELL power supply and the Reporter 8LED portable light. The FSB CELL is a 7.2 V battery which can be mounted directly between the camera and the FSB 4 head.
With its large storage capacity of 10.5 Ah, the FSB CELL not only enables carefree shooting, it also extends the camera's sliding range by its precise fit on the camera. The energy-saving and lightweight Reporter 8LED on-camera light, which also belongs to the team of quality products bearing the label "Works with SOOM" can be directly connected to the FSB CELL camera battery.
The FSB 4 will be available December 2008 in Asia and EMEA and January 2009 in the US.
