Gearhouse Broadcast Present HD1 At IBC

International broadcast services company Gearhouse Broadcast will showcase HD1, a triple expanding high definition outside broadcast unit (or chassis) offering 28 high definition cameras and up to 3 versions of 5.1 Dolby surround sound, at IBC2008.
Gearhouse Broadcast will exhibit the range of services provided by its Systems Integration and Reseller divisions. As well as the outside exhibit at OE260, visitors can meet with members of the Reseller division, who are specialist sealers for Sony, Snell & Wilcox and Tektronix in Hall 10, Stand 10.B29, to discuss the full range of new broadcast equipment and ex-Olympic equipment used only once at this summers games.
HD1's lateral production area is large, spacious and air conditioned with 3 tiered desks which seat up to 12 production staff. The front desk will house a 4ME vision mixer and space for 84 monitors. The second desk provides 16 monitors and comprehensive communications. The third desk provides 32 monitors and comprehensive comms and monitoring facilities. The Unit is fully air conditioned to temperatures of 45 C°.
The third expand provides room for a second desk in the VTR area to provide space for up to 11 operators and a co-ordinator. The unit is wired for up to 12 EVS/ 14VTR. In the vision area there is control for up to 28 Cameras by seven operators, plus an engineering test position. The vision router is 576 x 576 and the audio router is 256 x 256 AES and analogue. The unit is engineered with a large in/out capability making it ideal for major events.
In the Audio room, which comfortably seats three, there is a 64 fader digital sound desk with surround sound capability. Comms are by a digital Communications Unit of 144 x 144 capacity with up to 48 button panels. The rear connection panel, the tailboard, has over 1,000 connectors to provide plenty of video and audio connection capacity for major events.
Gearhouse Broadcast Managing Director Eamonn Dowdall said: "Gearhouse will have a number of specialist engineers on hand to explain the systems integration of HD1 and other recent broadcast installations. Many high end manufacturers will also be on hand to showcase their latest equipment including Belden, Calrec, Probel, EVS and Riedel."
