IPV Installs Curator Tapeless Workflow Solution At Five

IPV, an independent supplier of low bit-rate, frame-accurate video technology to the broadcast and professional video sectors, has installed its newly launched Curator tapeless workflow solution at television channel Five.
The installation earlier this year forms a key part of Five's move towards a tapeless workflow at its London facilities.
An affordable, proxy-based tapeless workflow environment running on both PC and Apple(r) Mac platforms, the Curator system is designed to allow communities of media professionals add value to their content and efficiently fulfil tasks such as desktop editing media annotation, review and approve and general media browsing.
It is a complete solution that can efficiently ingest, encode or transcode, at low bitrate, proxy SDI or file-based media, which can then be used concurrently by multiple users.
Whatever the source of the material, the Curator version is guaranteed to be frame accurate at all times giving an unprecedented desktop experience.
Chris Anning, Chief Technology Officer at Five, said: "We chose IPV's Curator system as an integral part of our overall business strategy to move to a tapeless production workflow.
"A key driver to our approach was to ensure that our users all had the necessary tools available at their desktop. It is Curators' ability to provide a user-friendly and intuitive desktop experience, with superb media delivery - enabling our team to be up and running quickly and effortlessly - that demonstrates it is the right solutions to meet our workflow requirements at Five."
Anning continued: "Finding the right Media Asset Management system takes time and the Curator has enabled us to start building a library of proxies using the tools provided in the system today. The beauty Curator is that it is scalable and can be easily integrated into an enterprise level asset management system at a later stage without compromising any part of the workflow."
Nigel Booth, Executive Vice President for Sales and Marketing at IPV said: "Five's move to a tapeless workflow using the Curator comprehensive browse technology is a major endorsement of this newly introduced product and proves once again that it is the perfect fit for broadcasters wanting to begin the initial build out of their asset management systems.
"The development of Curator signified a fundamental shift in our company's strategy but one that has proved a considerable success following key implementations of the system around the world."
