Sony Provides Cutting Edge Media Centre In The West Midlands

Not-for-profit organisation CSWP has engaged Sony to create a full High Definition (HD) studio at its headquarters in Coventry, which will produce and package content for online distribution channels.
This large-scale project, financed partly by the European Regional Development Fund, will provide technical facilities for local SME's developing in the media sector and an education in media production for aspiring young people in the local area.
With content made by the local community, CSWP media centre will be a uniting voice for development and prosperity across the region.
Sony will be providing the CSWP studio with all the equipment needed for a commercial mainstream HD TV studio. The four camera studio will have full broadcast quality Sony HD cameras with recording formats ranging from HDCAM to DVCAM, and production capabilities using a Sony production switcher. HD field kits will be available ranging from entry level to high-end acquisition, whilst the studio will also feature HD digital signage and audio-visual conference facilities throughout.
Paul Hennessey, Director of Media and Professional Business at Benelux UK and Ireland, said: "CSWP's Media Production Centre will be equipped with an extensive range of Sony broadcast technology and provide a comprehensive production facility for the local community. By providing such a range of recording formats and field equipment, the studio will be a comprehensive training ground for those creating locally produced media content. We have been able to provide the new centre with an end-to-end solution for centralised content creation, management and storage. Sony has been at the heart of CSWP's move towards digital communication."
The CSWP includes private, public, education and voluntary agencies working together for the growth of the community. The Media Production Centre is a means for the organisation to expand its offering to SME contacts, providing an outlet to the internet and other broadcast media channels for the first time, giving them the opportunity to make the most of this new marketing medium to target local groups.
Linda Gilleard, Head of Business Development, CSWP Ltd, said: "With top of the range Sony equipment in the studio, control room, edit suites, journalist stations and meeting rooms, users of the centre will be left without limits as to what they can create."
The studio will be equipped with four HDC-1400 HD cameras, controlled by Sony's MFS-2000 HD/SD digital production switcher. Sony's HDXchange system will provide the studio with storage capacity of over 500 hours, and will allow users working in either of the two edit suites to work with any and all of the content centrally stored. Sony's Ziris Digital Signage will run on Sony's flat LCD display screens throughout the gallery, general office and meeting rooms.
