Fairlight Wins Prestigious Australian International Design Award
Fairlight's Xynergi Media Production Centre, which was launched last October, has achieved one of Australia's highest accolades for design excellence by winning a prestigious Australian International Design Award for 2008.
This is the fourth time the company, which designs and manufactures media production systems, has won an Australian Design Award, but according to Tino Fibaek, Fairlight's Chief Technical Officer, the Award for 2008 means more than any other because the Xynergi system is so revolutionary.
He said: "This is an amazing honour and we couldn't be more delighted. Xynergi is the result of many months of intensive research and development, not just to ensure that our technology provided what our audio for video production clients wanted but also into the design and ergonomics of the system.
"We have concentrated on creating a design that is intuitive and user friendly, so that customers can access all the features and functions they need at the touch of a button, allowing them to work faster and better. To have our efforts recognised by such a prestigious organisation as the Australian International Design Awards is very rewarding and a fantastic endorsement for a product that we already know is a world-beater."
Xynergi, which organises and delivers all the tools needed for high-end audio for video production, was one of just three designs to scoop an award in the Business and Technology sector. This year's competition was particularly fierce because, for the first time ever, the Awards went global, attracting entries from Australian and internationally-designed products available for sale in Australia and products professionally designed by Australians for overseas markets.
Over 150 designs were submitted for consideration and of the 61 finalists, 18 products received an Australian International Design Award in recognition of design excellence. These were presented at a gala dinner, which was held at the Australian Technology Park in Sydney. The night also celebrated 50 years of rewarding and promoting design excellence and innovation in Australia.
Stephanie Watson, Manager of the Australian International Design Awards, said: "For an Australian design to come out on top signifies the high quality of Australian design work and the strength of the local industry on a world scale. We have a proud history of thorough testing and assessment by Australian and international design experts. The judges spend a week scrutinising all entries against rigorous criteria including innovation, visual/emotional appeal, functionality, quality and manufacture, ergonomics and safety, environmental sustainability and presentation."
Designed for a wide range of customers, from multiple room commercial audio post facilities through to aspirational home studio owners, the Fairlight Xynergi is targeted at users looking for a professional grade audio finishing system to create multimedia projects. It has already been installed in key broadcast and post production facilities around the world, including NHK in Japan, Sonacom in France and Grand Central in London.
