Church Bans Filming Of 'Angels And Demons'

Two churches in the heart of Rome have banned the makers of 'Angels And Demons' - an adaptation of the novel by 'Da Vinci Code' author Dan Brown - from filming there, it has been reported.
According to Associated Press, the movie's producers have been banned from filming in both the churches of Santa Maria del Popolo and Santa Maria della Vittoria.
Speaking to AP, Monsignor Marco Fibbi, spokesperson for the Roman diocese, said that the film "does not conform to our views". He said: "It's a film that treats religious issues in a way that contrasts with common religious sentiment. We would be helping them create a work that might well be beautiful, but that does not conform to our view."
'Angels And Demons' is the second of Dan Brown's books to be filmed. Tom Hanks will reprise his role as Professor Robert Langdon, while Ron Howard will once again direct.
'The Da Vinci Code' angered many Catholics upon its release two years ago. The book, which also caused wide-spread controversy, was based on the idea that Jesus Christ married Mary Magdalene and fathered children with her. It also depicted the controversial Roman Catholic organisation Opus Dei as a murderous cult.
