Ting Tings' Promo Gets'F'N' MTV' Exclusive For Rushes
Indie band The Ting Tings' new promo for their latest release 'Shut Up And Let Me Go' aired exclusively in the US on Pete Wentz's new music show 'F'N MTV' on June 13, UK post-production Rushes, who completed post on the promo, have revealed.
The show also featured hot exclusives from Panic At The Disco, Flo-Rida, Snoop Dogg and The Pussycat Dolls.
'Shut Up And Let Me Go' is the follow-up track to the Ting Tings' No.1 hit 'That's Not My Name'.
Rushes completed post on the new promo from directors Alex and Liane and Producer Charlotte Woodhead for Factory Films and Song BMG.
Rushes' Colourist Simone Grattarola commented: "The central idea was an endless transition from scene to scene through the duo's hand shapes.
"It is always a great creative experience working with Alex and Liane. They are open to lots of ideas and we pushed the boat out with multiple passes on shots, keying primary colours and twisting hues, which they layered up in Flame later with their multiple transitions. A point in case of their fertile minds was when we came across an offset RGB effect in Spirit, which was replicated in Flame later on. It also led us to another effect that will be used at a later date - watch this space!"
VFX Artist Marcus Wood added: "Alex and Liane have a very artistic as well as technical approach to making promos, so they were keen to experiment. Working together with the Flame artists they created alternative looks for the various sequences and graphic devices within the video.
"One technique that emerged was achieved by separating the colour channels (RGB) and shifting them to the musical beat. This distorted the footage in a rhythmical way and added to the primary colour palette created in Telecine. The transition sequences needed stabilisation, matting and colour correction to get them working in a lyrical fashion.
"Due to a true team effort from the Flame and Combustion artists, we managed to complete a large amount of matting and rig removal in a relatively short space of time."
'Shut Up And Let Me Go' will be released on CD and 7" vinyl in the UK on July 21.
