LineUp For Broadband Connect Summit Outlined
The agreed speakers for the second annual Broadband Connect Summit in London has been revealed.
Taking place on 30 June at the Courthouse Hotel Kempinski, London, the agenda focuses on 'Enabling fixed and wireless networks for broadband media services'.
Panellists and speakers will address how the next generation networks will bring entertainment to the home and to the handset.
IPTV, wireless and mobile broadband service offerings are some of key topics areas included in this summit's panel discussions.
Dr. William Cooper, founder and Chief Executive of informitv, the chair for this summit, will provide the welcome introduction against the backdrop of increasing pressure on current infrastructure as consumers demand rich media over broadband and on mobile devices.
Bill Scott, Leader of Digital Consumer Media and Entertainment at IBM will provide the morning keynote "Next Generation media consumption: Who Pays?" He will discuss the rapidly changing landscape and what motivates telcos and internet service providers to invest more on network infrastructure to meet demands and create new revenue streams.
Allan Hadden, President of the Global Mobile Suppliers Association (GSA) will provide the afternoon keynote focusing on the current trends and future prospects for mobile broadband.
There will be two panels for this event. The morning session, moderated by Anette Schaefer from Yankee Group, will focus on "TV is Dead, Long Live IPTV".
It brings together speakers including Richard Young of BT Vision, Simon Danker form the BBC Worldwide, Myles Macbean from Disney online, Chris Brake from Virgin Media and Suranga Chandratillake from blinkx.
The afternoon session, moderated by Dr. Katja Mueller from Point Topic, will tackle issues on "Mobile and Wireless Broadband on the Go: a must have or just hype" and panellists include Russel Buckley of Admob, Houston Spencer from Alcatel-Lucent, Niall Murphy of The Cloud and Andy McKinnon from Motorola.
Eran Rom, of Jungo, who will discuss "Delivering profitable and cost-effective gateway solutions", commented: "The need for bandwidth is constantly growing which requires state of the art software solution which is cost effective and sustainable."
Joseph de Villiers, Managing Director for Technosummits said: "This year's agenda highlights some of the issues and challenges that network operators, telcos, broadcast and media companies attending this event face as they struggle to create new revenue streams while controlling the cost of delivering services."
The highlight for this year's event is a new event feature 'Straight Talking' - a one-to-one interview on stage with a surprise guest that looks into the "The Future of TV".
Technosummits is the definitive and key technology events resource that provides unique interactive format discussion platforms, by bringing together leaders and senior decision makers from the technology sector and global business community to address, discuss, and explore business issues and critical technology solutions to move the industry forward.
