Canal 7 Chooses Miranda
Miranda Technologies - which develops, manufactures and markets high-performance hardware and software for the television broadcast industry - has announced that
Argentina's Canal 7 has installed a Kaleido-X multi-image display processor as part of a digital refurbishment to its Monitoring and Control Center in Buenos Aires.
The new Kaleido-X processor feeds 32 signals to six 42 inch LCD monitors, used for production monitoring.
Canal 7 produces its own content, including live programming, from 6 studios and numerous local newsrooms.
"We're going through the transition from analog to digital right now, so it's paramount that our multi-image system has the versatility to display different video formats, including HD for the future. The Kaleido-X achieves this with astounding image quality, no matter how big or small the windows, or how many are displayed," said Francisco Carrá, Technical Manager at Canal
7.
"The Kaleido-X can also duplicate the same image many times, without affecting any other outputs. This is something that no other multi-image manufacturer could offer.
"We've been using the Kaleido range for several years at Canal 7 with 100 per cent reliability. All together, we have around 60 of Miranda’s multi-image systems," he explained.
Kaleido-X allows multiple displays across multiple rooms to be controlled completely independently, using either a remote panel or an on-screen mouse action.
The monitoring layouts can be quickly reconfigured for different productions, with full flexibility over window positioning and sizing. The system’s XEdit multi-room layout editor simplifies the sharing and presentation of centralized sources across multiple areas controlled by multiple operators.
The highly robust Kaleido-X processor has multiple points of redundancy, and no single point of failure for reliable 24/7 operation.
The frame uses front loading, hot swappable modules and power supplies. All modules are independent, and no single module can cause the system to fail.
