Avid hold European showcase of Xdeck direct-ingest device

Avid Technology have held the first European showing of the Avid Xdeck v1.0 device at the Experience Avid|naked event in Cologne, Germany.
Kevin Usher, Avid's European Broadcast Product Marketing Manager, said: “The Avid Xdeck device we’re using is the first off the production line and we’re delighted to be able to show it in Cologne. By recording media directly to the Avid Unity MediaNetwork, the Avid Xdeck system allows multiple users to access and edit footage seconds after recording begins, with unmatched control and flexibility, at greater speeds and lower cost than ever before.”
Each Xdeck device provides the ability to ingest a single feed directly into Avid Unity MediaNetwork, and combined with Avid’s PortServer Pro solution it can handle more than 50 simultaneous ingest channels.
Smaller facilities, which typically require fewer feeds, can connect the Xdeck device to Avid’s Ethernet-based LANShare solution for even lower cost, but still powerful, ingest capability.
