Obituary: Tim Royes

The funeral service of Tim Royes who died following an accident in New York on 13 August will be held at 1 pm, Friday 31 At Golders Green Crematorium.
Following the Funeral service there will be an afternoon/evening of remembrance at the Paradise Bar, 19 Kilburn Lane.
Tim Royes began his career as a music video director over 20 years ago. He came to prominence as a highly skilled editor, working closely with Andy Morahan on his most successful videos for Guns N Roses including 'November Rain'.
Tim made the transfer to directing in the early nineties, initially co-directing with Russell Young. His breakthrough as a solo director came shortly after, and he developed a glossy look for pop and R&B acts such as Eternal and rock acts such as Terrorvision and Faith No More.
In 2004, Tim cut three massively successful videos for Green Day directed by his friend Sam Bayer and won the MTV VMA best editing award for his work on Boulevard of Broken Dreams in 2005.
Recently he worked on three videos for Melanie C's new solo album, The View, Ghosts And Ben Taylor.
Tim's family hope to see as many of his friends as possible at the funeral and memorial service.
Sally Campbell, Managing Director at Academy Films where he was represented for music videos and commercials echoed the loss felt by his family and friends: "Everyone here is devastated by the news. Tim was an extraordinary and very special person."
Andy Morahan said in tribute: "Tim was a much loved, 'larger-than-life' character who seemed to touch the lives of all those he knew. He was one of those rare people that nobody had a bad word to say about. He will be sorely missed. He was a shining light in an often dull world."
