Carolina Panthers Invest In First Vision Multi-Definition Production Switchers

News Image
Ross Video has announced the Carolina Panthers have invested in the first Vision 3 multi-definition production switcher for stadium game day applications. After evaluating what the major manufacturers had to offer at NAB2007 the Panthers chose the newly launched Vision for its features, HD capability, and Ross’ reputation in the sports stadium market.
"Ross Video is very attuned to the sports market and has a great reputation with many NFL teams," said Kyle Ritchie, Director of Entertainment & PantherVision, Carolina Panthers. "We’re looking down the road to HD and know the new switcher will play an important role in our productions. Ross gave an excellent demo at NAB and we really like the features of the new Vision panel. It’s nice to have the person intimate with the technology actually give the demo. Ross knows our industry and can speak our language, they’re extremely personable."
"We’re thrilled the Carolina Panthers chose Vision for their sports production needs," said David Ross, CEO, Ross Video. "Vision builds on the Ross reputation for designing switchers for live production. We have deep roots in the sports stadium market. Vision will deliver outstanding performance as the Panthers venture into the world of HD."
The Vision Series is Ross' next generation multi-definition production switcher, handling standard and high-definition formats. The 5 new models, ranging from 1 to 4 M/Es, include: the Vision 1 MD, Vision 2 MD, Vision 2 MD-X, Vision 3 MD-X and Vision 4 MD-X.
Building on over 30 years experience in production switchers, the Vision control panel incorporates a number of new concepts. Vision is highly modular and all models share a common platform and common set of modules. The use of RGB buttons results in a stunning new look and allows personalization of Vision's control panel. Vision offers a new DualDisplay color touch screen allowing the operator to view and control two menus simultaneously. A long list of other enhancements including built-in manuals, Linux based OS, and integration with the OverDrive control system makes Vision the most advanced switcher on the market. Leveraging over 1 Million lines of Synergy Series software, the Vision Series has a head start with a well developed feature set and a full complement of device control options.
The Ross line now includes 20 different models of production switchers. Ross continues to offer the Synergy SD (standard definition) and Synergy MD (multi-definition) production switchers along with the new Vision Series. A path for existing Synergy SD and MD customers to move to the Vision platform is available.
