Gerwe Joins U-Turn Media Group Board Of Directors
Jan Obrman, U-Turn Media Group Chairman, has announced that Peter Gerwe has become a shareholder of the company and will sit on the board of directors from June 2007.
"Peter is somewhat of a media magnate, with a reputation for getting it right when it comes to creating success in the highly competitive media industry,” said Obrman. “It is an endearment to U-Turn that Peter sees a real opportunity in our mobile technology and vision and supports our mission to offer a carrier independent solution for media companies across the globe."
American born and raised Peter Gerwe rose to success during the 90s when he launched several successful media ventures in Russia culminating in the creation of CTC Media, a NASDAQ listed (CTCM) Russian television network. Gerwe also founded the Russian celebrity magazine Hello! Russia and one of Russia’s first FM stations called Radio Maximum.
Currently Gerwe is concerned with growing his media assets to include the launch of Cable TV networks in Russia and other Russian media investments. The U-Turn deal is Peter’s first investment outside of Russia in over seven years.
"The race is on to find the right combination of technology and business model to truly take the media industry mobile," said Gerwe. "U-Turn has a solution that gives media owners the unique opportunity to reach mobile consumers independent of the carriers. I am interested in U-Turn’s ability to allow media companies to replicate the current advertising funded business model seen on TV, Radio and in print, to mobile consumers."
U-Turn’s mobile media delivery technology allows media companies and brand owners to overcome the fragmented mobile ecosystem and connect with mobile consumers on the move. The solution allows delivery of digital assets and targeted advertising to mobile consumers regardless of the wireless operator or brand of mobile phone.
U-Turn’s clients include TV stations such as ZeeTV in India, TV Nova in Czech Republic and WISC, WKMG, Fox23 and America One in the United States.
