Virtual Katy Development Announce VK Connect Application

Virtual Katy Development has announced VK Connect, an enterprise application for managing media workflows in audio post facilities.
VK Connect bridges the gap between the sequence-oriented picture editing world and session-structured audio post world. By implementing a project management methodology, the two different file-based workflows are organized into a logical framework of tasks, statuses, and media management processes. The end result is an extremely organized exchange of audio editing assignments, centralized hand-off of projects, simplified reporting of assignment status, and highly controlled media and data exchange. Audio editors gain a clear view of assignments and are provided with the necessary media and correct versions; post supervisors can centralize project assignments and review statuses.
The new VK Connect solution can be seen at NAB 2007 on the Virtual Katy stand SL1413F (Avid Partner Pavilion).

VK Connect drives a common path for the uniquely different picture and sound post workflows by deconstructing the sequence for audio post supervisors and editors. Sound post supervisors can assign scenes or sequences to sound editors as specific tasks. From the VK Connect central administration server, sound supervisors can track the status of those assignments, view works in progress, and manage a variety of media versions; providing a clear and global view of the project as it moves through post production. In addition, the centralized server safeguards against potential project loss in the event of individual workstation or drive failure. Further, the VK Connect application superbly manages version control by ensuring all assigned audio editing tasks are populated with the correct picture data and media.
The VK Connect environment has been designed to integrate seamlessly for users, so as to minimize time required in constructing the workflow.
VK Connect will ship in Q2 of 2007. VK Connect is a software only server and client solution and is available as an ASP service or on an install basis.
