Entertainment equipment supplier Flint Hire & Supply have been named one of the fastest growth businesses in inner city Britain at the second annual Inner City 100, the prestigious small business awards dubbed 'the enterprise Oscars' by Chancellor Gordon Brown.
Flint Hire and Supply Ltd are based within the ward of Faraday in Southwark, London. The company are specialist suppliers of theatrical hardware equipment to the entertainment industry, covering films, television, museums, shops, theatres and anywhere requiring scenery.
Flint Hire and Supply have experienced tremendous growth since 1997, with a turnover rising 152% from £611,540 in the year ending 1997 to £1,540,560 in the year ending 2001.
A project of the New Economics Foundation (NEF), a leading think-tank on neighbourhood renewal, the Inner City 100 is the only index of the fastest growing businesses in Britain's most deprived inner city areas.
The inaugural Inner City 100 marked a turning point in understanding the economic potential in the UK's distressed urban areas, revealing how entrepreneurs and their often local workforces are leading the regeneration of Britain's inner cities.
