Granada International Signs Classic Deal

Granada International has signed a significant deal for over 30 classic feature films it has been announced by Managing Director, Nadine Nohr.
Brand new channel 'kabel eins classics' in Germany, which launched June 2006, has acquired a range of titles from the Rank, ITC and Romulus libraries for broadcast in 2007, in a deal brokered by Toby Melling, Granada International’s VP of Sales. 'kabel eins classics' is offered by Germany's cable network providers as part of their basical Pay-TV-Packages and shows a broad range of international classical movies and serials of all genres from forties to the early nineties as well as ambitious european productions.
Titles include classic comedies from the 'Carry On…' series starring a range of comic legends such as Sid James, Frankie Howerd and Kenneth Williams as well as two titles from the 'Doctor' series – 'Doctor At Large' and 'Doctor In The House' starring Dirk Bogarde, 'The Importance of Being Earnest' starring Michael Redgrave, 'The Million Pound Note' starring Gregory Peck and 'The Wrong Arm of the Law' starring Peter Sellers.
A selection of the other titles acquired include the action adventures 'North West Frontier' starring Lauren Bacall, 'The Long Duel' starring Trevor Howard and Yul Brynner, and 'Vendetta For The Saint' starring Sir Roger Moore; the classic drama 'A Tale Of Two Cities' starring Dirk Bogarde, 'The League of Gentlemen' starring Lord Richard Attenborough, Golden Globe winner 'A Night To Remember' with Kenneth Moore and the Oscar winning 'Great Expectations' starring Sir John Mills.
Commenting on the deal, Toby Melling said: "Our feature film collection continues to prove popular with international broadcasters and this particular deal will allow them to be broadcast on a channel ideally suited in terms of style, content and audience. I am confident that viewers in Germany will enjoy and appreciate these fantastic, celebrated titles.”
