Bewegte Bilder Are Leaders In Digital Cinema Mastering
Bewegte Bilder Digital Cinema, a branch of Bewegte Bilder Medien, is a German full-service postproduction company and one of the leaders in Digital Cinema Mastering.
During the last four months the company has encoded more than 25 feature films, primarily in the new JPEG2000 standard, for several German and international right holders - among them blockbusters like "Hoodwinked" and the German FIFA World Cup movie "Deutschland, Ein Sommermärchen" which was one of the most successful movies in Germany in 2006.
Part of this success is thanks to Doremi Cinema LLC, whose mastering equipment Bewegte Bilder utilises for JPEG2000 and MPEG mastering.
Bewegte Bilder was the first to release a German movie in JPEG2000, in addition to encoding all data in up to five different formats to meet the needs of all existing servers, covering MPEG2 MXF Interop and several other proprietary formats. As a result Bewegte Bilder can deliver DCPs on all existing server types and formats.
Bewegte Bilder has also completed seven movies in new Digital 3-D format JPEG2000 at 48 fps to bring this new experience to IMAX© and regular screens, and has become a trusted partner of the large image film industry.
Bewegte Bilder provides the rights holders with all related services for digital distribution. This means duplication services, shipment to and from cinemas within Europe, key delivery managment and more. In addition, the company offers a wide range of products concerning post-production and digital intermediate; scan and record, real-time color grading and so on.
Carsten Schuffert, CEO of Bewegte Bilder stated that the company benefits from the great experience of the Doremi Cinema LLC, whose encoding and mastering equipment are one of the solid resources of their work. He said: "Doremi provides the best technology in 4k and 3-D mastering and has a worldwide reputation with more than 2200 screens using Doremi Digital Cinema Servers for playback."
Patrick Zucchetta, Manager of Doremi in Europe added that Bewegte Bilder’s ability to provide very efficient mastering and distribution at a competitive price was crucial in convincing the German distributors to migrate to DCI delivery.
