Ffresh Festival Returns In February

Ffresh, The Student Moving Image Festival of Wales, which attracts an annual audience of over 800 people, will take place in Aberystwyth Arts Centre from the February 15-16.
Wales’ premiere student film festival, will once again celebrate the innovation and creativity of young Welsh filmmakers and talent through the annual Ffresh Awards.
Students from 11 universities and higher education establishments will compete in nine categories of excellence including Animation, Music Media, Interactive Media, Factual Programming and TV.
A panel of industry experts including award-winning filmmaker, Julian Richards, Sue Lion, Managing Director, Encounters International Short Films Festival, Director Gruff Davies and Gwawr Hughes, Director, Skillset will judge the entries and select winners from a short-list of submitted work. Awards will be presented during the Festival.
Marc Evans, Festival Patron said: “Ffresh is a festival with an abundance of creative energy and enthusiasm. It is an opportunity for industry professionals to share their knowledge and experience with a new generation of aspiring young film-makers something I feel is incredibly important in encouraging new talent.”
The two-day festival will also host a varied programme of workshops, master-classes, screenings and panel sessions. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear key industry experts including:
  • Stephen Frears, Director, The Queen (2006), Mrs Henderson Presents (2005) and Dirty Pretty Things (2002).
  • Marc Boothe, Producer, Bullet Boy (2004) and founding Director of non-profit urban media agency b3 Media.
  • Richard Stokes, Series Producer, Torchwood (BBC) and previously Series Producer, Holby City (BBC).
  • James Strong, Director of They Keep Killing Suzie and Cyberwoman from Dr Who spin-off drama Torchwood (BBC).
  • Matt Lloyd, Head short Films at Edinburgh Film Festival.
The Ffresh festival is open to the public, tickets are available on the day to attend - one-day pass £10 or two-day pass for £20.
The event is free to students attending higher education institutions in Wales.
