SIP Animation Appoint Sylvie Barro As Head Of Development

Sylvie Barro has been appointed Head of Development at SIP Animation, it has been announced by Stephanie Kirchmeyer, Managing Director.
Barro will oversee all SIP’s new animation projects from development stage through to pilot.
Stephanie Kirchmeyer commented: “I am delighted that Sylvie has joined us at SIP. She has vast experience on both sides of the animation fence - the creative side as a script editor and as a producer. She has the great skill of being able to consider a project in development and know if it will work. As well as being bilingual, Sylvie has lived and worked in the US and London and really understands both cultures.”
Barro was previously story editor and then line producer of one of SIP Animation’s hit TV series (A.T.O.M. Alpha Teens on Machines, Seasons 1 & 2). Prior to this she has been a writer and story-editor of numerous features, live action and animated series. She also supervised the development of international co-productions at Carrere Group and was development consultant and script analyst for various production companies in Los Angeles.
She regularly collaborates with theatre companies as an author and producer and has written children’s educational interactive plays and programmes for Oxfam Australia commissioned for the 'World Refugee Day' campaign of the UNHCR. Barro is a graduate of UCLA’s Writer’s and Film Programme.
Television production company SIP was founded in France by Haim Saban and Jacqueline Tordjman in 1977 and moved into animation in 1983. SIP developed into a well-established producer and distributor of animation. In 2001 following the departure of Saban, The Walt Disney Company took a minority holding in the company which then changed its name to SIP Animation. Whilst enjoying the backing of the world’s most successful animation company, SIP continues to operate as an independent studio, acquiring and creating its own portfolio of high end animated programming which it successfully co-produces with a wide range of international broadcasters.
SIP Animation has produced 21 TV series representing almost 750 half hour episodes making the company one of the leading producers of animated series in Europe.
