Willis Appointed Chief Executive Of Mentorn

John Willis, former BBC Director of Factual and Learning has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of Mentorn.
Mentorn which is based in London and has production centres in Oxford and Glasgow, has enjoyed recent success with shows including 'A Very Social Secretary' and 'Robot Wars'.
Willis, who stepped down from the corporation in September following job cuts in his division, will also become group Creative Director of Mentorn's owner, Tinopolis.
Wales based Tinopolis, one of the UK's leading independent television production companies, bought Television Corporation, Mentorn's previous owner, in January.
Willis began his career at Yorkshire Television where he won a string of awards for his hard-hitting documentary programmes such as 'Johnny Go Home'.
He is now one of the best known figures in the television industry, having been Director of Programme at Channel 4 Managing Director of LWT and United Productions, Vice President of National Programmes at WGBH and most recently the BBC's Director of Factual and Learning where he was responsible for commissioning landmark programmes such as 'Planet Earth' and 'Live 8'.
Willis commented: "I'm delighted to be joining a blue chip independent with a strong commitment to quality and with a willingness to expand in the exiting area of new media."
Ron Jones, Executive Chairman of Tinopolis said: "John has an unrivalled track record of identifying and overseeing talent, successful programmes and formats across the factual, drama and entertainment genres and we're really pleased to have him join us."
Willis will take up his role in early November.
