Cove Broadcast Z-Link highlights flexible Swiss options

Cove’s Swiss based agents Z&B has begun supplying the Z-Link system to their clients.
One of the attractions to Z&B is Z-Link's ability to make use of a multitude of different connectors allowing Z&B to maintain their customers connector preferences.
Z&B’s client, TSI, requested Fischer connectors for their Z-Link system specifying Fischer’s’ innovative 1053 fibre-optic HDTV broadcast camera connectors as an option on its Z-Link camera link system. The 1053 connector is incorporated into the high definition interface which is a supplement to the standard Z-Link SD capability, providing an HD connection to the camera adapter and adding bandwidth to the link for transmission of HD-SDI data to the base station.
Cove Broadcast is using a hybrid 1053 connector carrying two fibre-optic and two copper contacts. In this way it is able to offer over a single cable full, digitally perfect bi-directional audio, video and communications between the OB van and camera, as well as 200W to power the camera and ancillaries without reliance on batteries.
Cove exhibited at Z&B's 25th anniversary earlier this year where the Z-Link fibre optic transmission system was fully employed delivering live HD output throughout the event.
This feed and other input was displayed on Coves demonstration 19” rack system put together especially for the show which housed the Z-link base stations, Hybrid PSU, ImagePro twin screen module and a 15” screen version of ImagePro again designed to fold away into a 1U high space.
