Anystream Demonstrates Next-Generation Technology at IBC 2006
Anystream, the leading provider of multi-platform publishing solutions to the media industry, is set to preview a next-generation, software-based approach to workflows incorporating Dolby E audio content at IBC.
Anystream will demonstrate a solution that combines an Agility digital media production system and a prototype Dolby DP600 Program Optimizer, which includes software-based Dolby E audio decoding. This system enables automated, file-based multiplatform publishing workflows and can convert Dolby E audio content into formats compatible with a wide range of consumer devices at rates many times faster than real-time.
Developed by Dolby Laboratories and used in over 400 facilities around the world, Dolby E permits up to 8 audio tracks to be represented on a single stereo channel. This professional technology is designed for production and distribution applications and is converted to other formats for delivery to consumers. Today this task is accomplished by streaming the content to a real-time hardware decoder. With the availability of the combined Agility/DP600 solution, currently projected for early 2007, Dolby E conversion is expected to become an integrated part of file-based broadcast, VOD, Web, mobile phone and IPTV content production workflows.
"Anystream continues to develop solutions that streamline workflows involving video and audio file conversion and that accelerate the process of creating content for a variety of formats and devices," said Bill Thompson, director, broadband media products at Anystream. "By streamlining the conversion of Dolby E audio to other distribution formats we are helping media companies devote more time to creative content production and less on non-creative, programmatic production tasks."
Anystream can be found at Stand 7.910 at IBC2006.
