UK technology to the fore at IBC 2006

British company Fighting Bull Broadcast Technologies (FBBT) (1) will introduce version 2.0 of Matador™, its OSS (operational support system)/monitoring tool, at this year’s IBC, which takes place in Amsterdam from 8 to 12 September 2006.
Originally launched at last year’s IBC, Matador is claimed to be the first OSS system for broadcasters, cable, and satellite providers which gives dynamic monitoring of quality and costs, enterprise-wide, via the monitoring of the entire broadcast chain in real time. The company says that in 2005 it collected the “Best of IBC” award, as selected by TVB Europe, and at this year’s NAB in Las Vegas it collected a “Pick Hit” award from Broadcast Engineering.
Matador 2.0
A new multi-document interface allows users to open any number of panes simultaneously, providing the ability to examine several broadcast paths together - or historical and current views simultaneously. The alarm system has been upgraded and now provides a searchable history of previous alarm conditions. The cable database, which exists as part of the inventory of broadcast assets, now has its own menu.
Version 2.0 also provides an updated communications layer which, although invisible to the end user, is essential to its ability to scale across multiple dispersed broadcast sites efficiently. Matador 2.0 benefits from a 3D path layout engine, which allows for greater flexibility.
FBBT is one of 17 British companies exhibiting at IBC in a group presentation organised by Tradefair, on behalf of the sponsors Intellect and BKSTS, with the backing of UK Trade & Investment, the United Kingdom's export promotion and inward investment body.
Some 33 other British companies are exhibiting independently.
The Intellect stand at IBC 2006 will feature a free on-line product locator service that uses innovative technology to bring together buyers and suppliers. Visitors simply add their contact details, and product areas of interest, when they register.
The information is then sent directly to compatible UK participating companies via SMS or E-mail. In turn, visitors who have registered for the service will receive an SMS/E-mail containing a link to a WAP portal, where it is possible to view company contact details, including stand numbers.
