Steadicam launch Ultra2 for 'maximum precision and smoothness'

Steadicam have announced the launch of the the Ultra2 which enables operators to 'go further in achieving the maximum precision and smoothness, for every part of every shot'.
As with the Ultra, the centre post is a four section device which is extendable in a class leading range from 27” - 70” and locking with new flush fitting over-centre catches. Also new, is the ultra high-precision gimbal which is easily centred by the user with a tool supplied specifically for the purpose.
The HD monitor is the third generation of the acclaimed UltraBRITE technology. It incorporates dual anti-reflective coatings, HDSDI, HD component and composite compatibility and an ultra-high brightness level of 1400 nits. Menu commands allow adjustment to aspect ratios from wide screen through 16x9, to 4x3. The monitor mount is stronger and easier to flip for low modes and also supports a wider range of vertical and horizontal positions.
The centre piece of the Ultra2 concept is the all new patented 'iso-elastic' G-70 stabiliser arm. Despite weighing in at under 11lbs, the G-70's exclusive honeycomb construction is robust, whilst the co-axial springs can lift an 'all up' maximum weight of 70 lbs with an unrivalled boom range of 32”.
Power is provided by the newly developed exclusive 6.0Ah rated Steadicam/IDX Power Cube - a twin battery 29.6 volt system which can easily cope with the requirement of any current camera/lighting/accessories combination with continuous loads of 10 amps and shorter bursts of 24 amps.
Orders are currently being taken for the first UK deliveries during October/November 2006.
