Top TV academy announces expansion

London based Top TV Academy, one of the UK’s leading training organisations for the television industry, has appointed Ashe Hussain as Projects Director.
She was formerly a producer for BBC Scotland then became a Training Executive at Scottish Screen and The Research Centre.
Hussain’s appointment to the newly created role follows Top TV Academy’s recent successful tender of the Channel 4 Researcher Training Programme (RTP), a 12-month initiative aimed at increasing the representation of diverse production talent in the industry. This year’s programme is launched on 1 August 2006. Since its inception in 2003, the Channel 4 RTP has trained over 45 researchers and Assistant Producers in numerous top independent production companies.
Hussain has a wealth of industry experience, having started her career at BBC Scotland in the Topical Programmes Unit as a researcher and radio producer. Since moving into television and the Features and Education department of BBC Scotland, Hussain has worked in training with the newly set-up Scottish Broadcast & Film Training Ltd which later become part of Scottish Screen. As an expert in her field, she has been involved in designing and delivering training for emerging and established talent both in the film and television sector as well as business development for the indie sector.
Hussain joined The Research Centre in 2003 as Project Manager for the newly launched Channel 4 Researcher/Assistant Producer Training programmes. She will continue to manage this programme from Top TV Academy’s London office as well as overseeing the company’s training strategies and projects.
Liz Mills, Managing Director of Top TV Academy says, “Ashe is one of the most well respected authorities in her area and we are over the moon that she is joining us to continue her commitment to the Channel 4 RTP as well as bringing her extensive experience and knowledge of training to the company.”
Ashe Hussain adds “Top TV Academy is unique in the career support it provides people at all levels across the industry and I’m thrilled to be to working with their dedicated and professional team and look forward to contributing to the company’s future growth.”
