FBBT set to launch Matador version 2 at IBC 2006

Belfast-based FBBT will be launching version 2.0 of the Matador operational support system at IBC 2006.
This upgrade contains a raft of advancements and offers improved functionality.
The new multi-document interface allows users to open any number of panes simultaneously, providing the ability to examine several broadcast paths together – or historical and current views simultaneously.
Matador’s alarm management has also been upgraded and now provides a searchable history of previous alarm conditions, complimenting its original fault-finding and fixing applications.
The cable database – which exists as part of the inventory of broadcast assets – now has its own menu. With its new find and retrieve functionality combined with its display path abilities, this allows unrivalled usability.
Performance upgrades in version 2 provide an updated communications layer which, though invisible to the end user, is essential to its ability to scale across multiple dispersed broadcast sites efficiently. The new layer reduces server and bandwidth usage and has a faster front end.
The updated access layer now provides the all the standard broadcast system interfaces: SNMP, XML, GPI, RS232, telnet and SQL. Configuration effort is also considerably reduced.
Matador 2 now benefits from a 3D path layout engine. This allows far greater flexibility, meaning that Matador is now easily integrated into complex transmission paths – playout centres, presentation suites, coding and multiplexing facilities and more.
FBBT develops, sells and supports Matador, the first Operational Support System (OSS) for broadcasters, cable and satellite providers which provides dynamic monitoring of quality and costs enterprise-wide via its monitoring of the entire broadcast chain in real time.
Matador collected the prestigious 'Best of IBC' Award at IBC2005 as selected by TVB Europe and was also awarded a Pick-Hit Award by Broadcast Engineering at NAB2006.
