XTV MAKE GRAPHIC CHANNEL 5 ‘JAILBREAK’

CHANNEL 5 has commissioned XTV and Princess Productions to create all of the 3D graphics for their multi-million pound game show ‘Jailbreak’.
The game show involves 10 contestants being locked up in a purpose built Category C prison. The first ‘inmate’ to escape will win £100,000.
XTV’s graphics team led by Zen Jepras have built a computer generated 3D scale model of a jail using original blueprints developed by Captia. The 3D element involves mimicking five external ‘fly-round’ camera moves of the prison complex, with a further 30 interior moves of the complex.
This allowed the producers to illustrate the progress of the inmates, highlight points of interest and analyse the action throughout the series.
The XTV graphics team had to visualise every aspect of every room and replicate this as well as continually updating the 3D models according to the ever-changing specifications of the real prison during its construction.
Alex Rudzinski, Director of Princess Productions said: “XTV managed to meet the design in a very short timescale. As it was necessary to deliver the graphics prior to the completion of the prison construction the intricate detail required on the 3D renders was a test for both editorial and design teams.”
The first programme of the Channel 5 series, which is to be presented by Ulrika Jonnson, begins on September 5, at 8.00pm.
