NEW ITC HEAD FOR SCOTLAND

THE INDEPENDENT Television Commission have appointed Alan Stewart regional head for their Scottish Operation.
He succeeds Brian Marjoribanks who retires from the post after 17 years service with the ITC and its predecessor body, the Independent Broadcasting Authority.
Richard Peel, ITC’s Director of Public Affairs and Regions said: "I am delighted that Alan is to succeed Brian in the role of Head of ITC for Scotland. He has a deep understanding of the issues affecting the ITC in Scotland and I know he will make a positive contribution in the run up to new Communications legislation. Regionalism will be a key issue for the ITC in the coming months."
Stewart (42) takes up his post on September 1, based in the ITC’s national office in Glasgow, from which it licenses and regulates commercially funded television services in Scotland. He has worked for the past six years in the ITC’s Glasgow office as regional executive and latterly as deputy head. His time at the ITC has included more than a year as acting National Officer for Northern Ireland, running the commission’s office in Belfast.
Stewart also spent six months managing the ITC’s Manchester office, liasing with Granada Television. He joined the ITC from Lothian Regional Council where he was principal officer responsible for corporate communications and marketing, before which he was a press officer with Strathclyde Regional Council.
