CORONATION STREET GOES LIVE

IN AN aim to recreate the early years of Coronation Street producers of the ITV soap have planned a one-off live broadcast of the show.
The idea revives the standard practice in the early days of the show when everything was shown live. Veteran actors say that tension of a direct broadcast added to the authenticity of the show.
Producer, Jane Macnaught, who revealed the news to the cast last week, said: “This is a wonderful tribute to Coronation Street and one that befits the programme’s standing as the greatest soap in British TV history. It will mean a lot of hard work for the cast and production team, but I know it will be exhilarating.”
Although storylines have not been released producers are guaranteeing that it will be “gripping stuff”.
Other events to mark the anniversary include a documentary about the life of actor Bill Roache (Ken Barlow), the soap’s longest serving star, and a programme called ‘Forty years of Coronation Street’.
