NEW TIME SLOT FOR SCOTTISH SOAP

SCOTTISH Television’s flagship soap, ‘High Road’, is to move to a new regular slot.
As of October 22, 2000, ‘High Road’ will be shown on Grampian Television at 7pm on Sunday nights. The move is a result of extensive scheduling changes across the ITV network, due to national soap ‘Emmerdale’ beginning a new Monday to Friday, five nights a week run in the Autumn.
Grampian Television however, revealed that it did not see the move as a marginalisation of regional programming as it allows Scottish viewers to keep both network and regional soaps.
“We are delighted that ‘High Road’ is moving to a new regular Sunday Night slot," said Managing Director Derrick Thomson. “However, because there will be a significant number of changes to the ITV schedules over the next few weeks with the introduction of ‘Emmerdale’ five days a week it has been decided to give ‘High Road’ a summer break.”
‘High Road’, produced by Scottish Television, is Scotland’s longest running home produced soap and regularly attracts an audience of 830,000 viewers.
