dB Broadcast promotes Gareth Evans to Engineering Manager

Cambridgeshire-based dB Broadcast has promoted Gareth Evans to Engineering Manager.
Evans will be in charge of a team of ten full-time system engineers. Contract engineers are used from time to time and they will also report direct to him. The product development team will continue to report directly to David Bird, Managing Director of dB Broadcast.
Evans joined dB in 2001 as a Project Manager. His wide experience enabled him to take direct responsibility for many of the company's larger projects over the last five years, including a studio refurbishment at BBC Cardiff, a new studio for MTV, studio control rooms at QVC, a 13.5 metre radio OB vehicle for the BBC and a major playout centre for Turner Entertainment (TENIL) in central London.
Evans has spent over 25 years in the broadcast industry. He joined BBC Wales from school as a technical assistant and qualified as a BBC engineer three years later. After that he gained experience as an electronic maintenance engineer and latterly worked on projects.
In 1985, after 10 years at the BBC, he joined Television South West in Plymouth as a project engineer. He joined Megahertz Communications in 1992 and managed a wide range of studio based and OB vehicle projects, both in the UK and abroad. The vehicle projects included satellite uplink vehicles, TV and radio OB vans. Studio-based projects included a news studio and MCR in Moscow, three studios in Italy and a MCR in Kuwait.
Tom Swan, dB's Sales and Marketing Director, said: "dB has doubled its turnover in three years and the engineering department has significantly increased in size. Gareth's ability to manage staff and projects of all sizes made him an obvious choice to head the growing team of engineers."
