DNF Controls introduces KVM PS2 test equipment at NAB2006

DNF Controls has announced the launch of its KVM PS2 line of products for the company's Analyst family of test equipment.
The new line, which includes The Analyst KVM PS2-TPG, the PS2 Test Pattern Generator, and The Analyst KVM PS2-DML, the PS2 Data Monitor and Logger, simplifies the process of KVM testing and troubleshooting, making it easier to quickly identify and solve system problems.
"The Analyst KVM PS2 products are the first of their kind for troubleshooting problems encountered in a KVM system and the equipment to which they connect," said Dan Fogel, President of DNF Controls. "Previously, there was no easy way to determine which part of the system was working properly and which was not. With these tools, expert and non-experts can quickly make this determination and focus their efforts on fixing the problem."
Until now, system troubleshooting typically required one person to operate the keyboard and mouse on one end of the system, and another to observe the data received by the computer on the other end. Relying on manually typed data, the test pattern through the system is unpredictable, as is the data rate. Observed problems may be due either to operator typing or an actual problem, significantly delaying a solution.
The Analyst KVM PS2-TPG creates a known, reliable test pattern at a known, selectable data rate. It connects directly to the PS2 keyboard and mouse ports on the KVM. The TPG is small, hand-held, and receives its power directly from the PS2 ports, so no batteries or external power adaptors are needed. The Analyst KVM PS2-TPG's front-panel switches select the test-pattern data rate and enable or disable the keyboard and mouse test patterns. Front-panel LED indicators show power, caps lock, and test-pattern transmission.
The Analyst KVM PS2-DML allows users to visually monitor data traveling from the KVM to the computer on one line of its display and vice versa on another line. The hand-held data monitoring and logging device, features a four-line-by-40-character display, eight-key keyboard, and rotary knob. It is connected between the KVM output and the computer and captures, timestamps, and stores the bidirectional data in a nonvolatile log file. Users can review the data or upload the log files to a PC for further analysis. It is powered by four AA batteries or an external power adaptor. (CD)
