DTG integrates Intelligent Transfer Technology with Omneon Media Servers
Digital Transaction Group will be demonstrating its new Intelligent Transfer Technology with the Omneon Media Server at NAB 2006.
DTG’s implementation with Omneon includes the ability to transfer syndicated programs from Pathfire’s content delivery system to on-air playout, and move Omneon media files directly to Near-line archive RAID storage – all managed seamlessly with the Xe Automation System.
With DTG’s Xe Automation System, broadcast stations can do more with less, no longer having to devote time and resources manually dubbing syndicated programmes, and manually entering timing and segment data for the programmes – the entire process from ingest to playout is automated.
“DTG has directly addressed the ugly little secret of content delivery. Up until the release of Intelligent Transfer Technology, broadcasters could receive content digitally but the metadata was lost in the process,” said Jason Danielson, Senior Director of Solutions at Omneon. “With this integration, DTG will save broadcasters thousands of hours of repetitive, uncreative manual labor per year.”
The Xe Intelligent Transfer Technology manages the transfer of syndicated programs from Pathfire to the Omneon Media Server. The Xe Automation System gets the metadata from Pathfire and creates the program segments and ad blocks in its SQL database server. Because Xe can manage multiple content IDs, the Pathfire ID is resolved and matched by the Xe System to the station’s house ID assigned by traffic. Xe formats the program segments and ad blocks to match the station’s Traffic schedule. When the schedule is loaded to Xe, all the programming is ready for on-air playback using the Omneon Media Server.
After the programme airs, Xe sends the As Run or reconciliation log to Traffic. The programme is automatically deleted or archived from the Omneon Media Server by the Xe System based on user-configured rules.
The entire process, from initiating a Pathfire transfer to Omneon playout to Near-line archive or deletion is all managed by DTG’s Xe Automation System – fully automated, no human intervention needed.
