RADIO TIMES LAUNCH INTERACTIVE GUIDE TO FILMS
RADIO Times are to launch an interactive online guide to films, past and present.
Based on the ‘Radio Times Guide to Films’ book also launching in October, The Radio Times Film website at www.radiotimes.com/film will cover film on all platforms including television, cinema video and DVD. It will give users, many of whom are swamped with multiple channel access to films, access to a searchable database of film reviews, covering more than 20,000 movies from the earliest silent productions to the latest cinema blockbusters.
Producer of the Radio Times website Duncan Swain said: “This project brings together our massive database capabilities with the wealth of cinematic expertise of our in-house team. It’s been developed in response to demand from the users of the Radio Times website, who have been asking for a film guide like this. The guide is an excellent complementary service to the printed Radio Times Guide to Films, and a product in its own right that we’re continuing to develop, as we add further products, services and retailers come online. In addition, we’re looking at its potential uses on other interactive platforms.”
Each week the site will feature columns from Barry Norman and Jonathon Ross connected to films appearing in that week’s TV schedules.
The site’s development team will be expanding the website’s shopping opportunities over the coming months, giving users the opportunity to buy online related books, soundtracks, videos and DVDs of their favourite films.
