New online tool for broadcast environments

Dog-eared procedures information schedules, pinned to the machine-room wall are a thing of the past, thanks to broadcast architecture specialists, Marquis.
Now, technical operators in any broadcast-related collaborative digital environment can have instant access to the entire operational process - and their specific responsibilities within it - thanks to a new on-line software tool from the UK-based company.
Marquis MD Granby Patrick explains. "PROCESS is a tool we developed initially for our own use in defining and documenting broadcast process procedure - also known by the more generic term 'workflow.' However, we soon appreciated that there is a considerable demand from the industry for such a system. PROCESS not only provides the definitive reference for who should be doing what and when; it is an invaluable aid both for staff training and for executing emergency procedures."
PROCESS defines the relationship between five key interactive elements in the broadcast chain: Staff, Work, Events, Tools and Objects. Each of these elements is in turn broken down into its constituent parts and uniquely identified. Using a mix of read-only graphical, timeline and text screens, technical staff can see at a glance the approved way to perform necessary tasks in order that the overall process works to maximum efficiency and productivity.
