News Image
THE Northern Film School in Leeds have announced a one-day seminar in association with The Film Council on the importance of the screenplay.
The West Yorkshire Playhouse will form the backdrop to a day of focus and debate. Panellists will include leading writers, producers, directors and distributors. The aim of the one day seminar on Friday, October 13, is to increase awareness of the pivotal role in the overall process careful script development plays in successful film production. With many British films underperforming at the box office, this discussion takes a look at the underlying factors that determine what makes a film financially successful, creative and culturally acceptable.
Organised by Alby James, Head of Screenwriting at the Northern Film School, the day of discussion will look at existing UK practice and identify problem areas with a view to finding a viable solution. Following a keynote presentation by leading American script consultant Linda Seger, there will be three sessions exploring the issue from different creative perspectives.
The Film Council's Chief Executive Officer John Woodward will conclude the seminar, which has has been sponsored by Orange.
