AUSTRALIA GOES DIGITAL WITH CJDS DAL

AUSTRALIAN broadcaster Network Ten, one of the three national commercial free-to-air networks, have chosen CJDS DAL presentation automation for their new digital TV service.
The decision, which follows a yeal-long evaluation, was prompted by the challenge of the new DTT (Digital Terrestrial Television) platform that will require more sophisticated automation control and material management.
The five sites on the Channel Ten network, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth will be networked together to provide frame accurate control of local commercial breaks and local time shifting.
The automation system will be interfaced to the digital compression equipment to synchronise service information with the transmission schedule, and will also manage the video server contents across all the sites.
MediaBase, the DAL tape preparation and review utility, will be fully integrated with DMAS automation and the material management and traffic systems to streamline operations and minimise data entry.
