Convera signs first commercial clients for Excalibur search technology
Convera Corporation, a leading provider of search technologies to commercial enterprises and government agencies, has signed its first commercial clients for Convera’s Excalibur Web Index and Search service.
HighBeam Research runs an online research engine for individuals, filling the gap between free search engines and high-end research services.
HighBeam’s founder, chairman and CEO Patrick Spain said his company will use Excalibur to enhance the power of its HighBeam Web Search functionality.
“By enabling HighBeam’s users to search our proprietary database of tens of millions of credible articles and the entire open Web in one step, HighBeam has made online research more convenient and efficient,” said Spain.
Vivísimo, creator of innovative software to access and cluster the world's information for better search and discovery, plans to incorporate aspects of Excalibur’s search technology into its popular consumer search engine Clusty. Vivisimo serves enterprise customers across the globe through a suite of clustering, search, and meta-search products.
In addition, as part of its ongoing efforts to bring unique content organisation to its audiences, CNET Networks’ Artificial Intelligence (AI) Research Group said it will use Convera’s search and categorisation capabilities to find new web content about consumer products, particularly in the domains of computers and electronics, and to classify them by type.
“We are delighted to announce partnerships with these three leading content and search companies and look forward to enhancing their existing search experiences,” said Convera CEO Pat Condo. “These partners have customers that demand professional grade web search and our Excalibur offering is designed to provide exactly that.”
The terms of the three deals were not disclosed.
