PESA to go to 2006 Winter Games

PESA, part of the QuStream group of companies and a leading provider of analogue and digital video and audio equipment for broadcast applications, has announced that its routing solutions will be used by a variety of broadcasters to support international delivery of audio and video from the 2006 Winter Games in Torino.
Operating out of Padua, Italy, FRAME operates a fleet of OB vans for hire in southern Europe. Chief Engineer Andrea Gianolli selected the PESA Cheetah SD-HD multi-rate router for coverage of the games in Torino because of the system's compact size, its flexible signal-format capability, and its small but powerful router system controller.
The PESA Cheetah 128x128 router is capable of simultaneously handling SDI and HDTV signals from the IBC as well as the production group's own sources. The FRAME OB van was engineered and built by Professional Show of Milan under the guidance of Systems Engineer Paolo Artuso.
The Geneva-based European Broadcast Union (EBU) has been using a PESA Tiger router regularly for major sporting events, upgrading the system routinely so that this year's coverage will be supported by a fully populated Tiger SDI router with a companion audio router and a large quantity of RCP-PVPG control panels, each of which was designed specifically for EBU.
The customised PESA control panels allow an operator to select one of up to eight sources with a single key press and then take the source to air by pressing a single control panel key.
The EBU system uses the PESA 3500PRO system controller, with 3500PRO software for the Windows XP PRO workstation, along with ClikControl network server/client software for remote operation of the router over a network.
