REALVIZ to launch VTour at Imagina 2006

REALVIZ, a leader in image processing software development, will launch VTour, the latest addition to their software portfolio for content creation, at Imagina in Monaco this week.
VTour draws on the award-winning technology of Stitcher and ImageModeler and offers users of all levels an innovative and effective solution for the creation of photo-real 3D environments from 2D pictures or panoramas. The REALVIZ team will be demonstrating VTour, along with a selection of their other applications at IMAGINA, which takes place at the Grimaldi Forum in Monte Carlo from 1-3 February 2006.
Starting directly from digital photographs, or from full 360 degree panoramas (created using Stitcher, for example), VTour facilitates the creation of 3D scenes such as interiors or urban areas using polygonal photo-textured primitives.
The results can be exported/ published as either a 3D movie, or as an interactive application using 3D viewers such as Macromedia Shockwave Player or Virtools Web Player.
VTour has been specifically developed for use in a wide range of applications, such as virtual walkthroughs inside buildings and monuments, 3D simulation, virtual reality, urban planning and video games, and is also well suited for the creation of virtual sets for film and television. VTour thus ideally complements StoryViz, REALVIZ' 3D previz and storyboarding software, enabling users to create photo-real backdrops for their previsualisation projects.
“VTour is the natural progression of our many years of experience in image-based calibration, modeling and texturing," explained Dominique Pouliquen, REALVIZ CEO. "With this product, we're taking the virtual tour and virtual reality to the next level. The environments which can be created with VTour are of amazingly high quality and will give people a very vivid sense of what a place is like. Short of actually being there, this is the next best thing in terms of a 'real' experience of a location or scene."
"VTour provides users with a workflow similar to that of Stitcher and ImageModeler, ideally complimenting these two products," explained Stephane Nullans, VTour Product Manager. "With VTour, you can construct entire environments with a remarkable level of detail, directly from your source images. including shapes and textures. The resulting 3D environments are exceptionally authentic, offering users a totally immersive experience."
