'Chicken Little' 3D hits Germany on Dolby Digital Cinema

Dolby Laboratories has announced that it will be supporting the forthcoming German digital 3-D release of Disney’s 'Chicken Little'. Following the success of the same film in the US, where Dolby equipped 84 screens for presenting the movie in this stunning new format, the Dolby Digital Cinema system has now been chosen for exhibition of the movie in specially selected German cinemas.
Easier conversion to digital 3-D is just one benefit of Dolby Digital Cinema. Digital 3-D improves on its film counterpart with smoother action and a more convincing dimensional effect, free of the eyestrain that frequently accompanied 3-D film presentations. For 'Chicken Little', moviegoers wear lightweight polarising glasses that permit normal head movements while maintaining the 3-D effect.
Wolfram Weber, Managing Director at the Nürnberg CineCitta, Germany’s largest cinema multiplex, said: “We’ve already been using the Dolby Digital Cinema system for a while. We’re delighted by the reaction from both our staff and our customers and can’t wait to show them this special presentation. We believe that it will give the audience an exciting opportunity to experience the future of digital 3D-cinema today.”
The systems have been installed in cooperation with cinema specialists FTT (for Nürnberg) and Kinoton (for Munich). Installations feature the Dolby Digital Cinema playback system partnered with specially configured DLP Cinema digital projectors.
