VTR BUY SONY MULTI-FORMAT MONITORS

VTR PLC have announced that they have purchased 11 BVM-D24E1WE 24-inch monitors and one BVM-D14H5E 14-inch monitor from Sony Broadcast & Professional UK.
The monitors have been installed throughout the group, which includes Soho-based Blue, Machine Room and VTR. The monitors are being used to provide high-quality widescreen monitoring in telecine and non-linear editing suites and quality control areas at all three facilities.
As well as providing Grade 1 monitoring facilities for standard definition widescreen pictures, the monitors are fitted with HD SDI decoder boards, allowing them to be upgraded to High-Definition signals, including the 1080/24p standard.
Bob Parsons, Technical Director at VTR, said: “Our customers need to view 16:9 masters of their commercials during production and before sign-off. The BVM-D24 is a big, bright, high-quality monitor, which for the first time, enables us to show the clients their production on a true 16:9 Grade 1 CRT monitor.”
Also, the BVM-D Series is equipped as standard with an Auto white balance system which guarantees exactly the same picture condition between all monitors.
Potential application areas include 24P mastering, HD production, widescreen SDTV production and mastering, high resolution film scanning, field use and OB van integration, production and broadcast operations.
